ReplyDeleteMy name is Amanda Bast. I teach high school English in Highmore. I just began my 9th year of teaching. I have dealt with burnout on and off over the years, but finally am beginning to feel that I have things (mostly) under control. I have been trying to discipline myself to be focused for the time I'm at school rather than focusing in and out on things throughout the day. I know that in order for me to go home without homework most nights, I need to keep my thoughts corralled and really plug in to my grading when I have small snatches of time throughout the day and when school is over instead of taking short mental breaks during down time. I know myself well enough to know that I get distracted easily if I don't have a plan or purpose, so I've been trying to make my to-do list throughout the day and stick to that list so that I can go home and relax. I'm hoping that this book study will give me some new insights and skills to help me with my time management, and maybe a new perspective on the work that I do. :)
